Cat & Dog Wellness Exams in Holmdel, NJ for Every Stage of Life

Your pet can’t tell you when something feels off, but routine wellness exams help us read the signs before there’s a problem. These visits aren’t only about vaccines and vital signs (though we do those, too). They’re a chance to check in on everything from your pet’s mobility and appetite to their behavior and lifestyle. More importantly, they give us the chance to listen to your concerns, your observations, and your goals for your pet’s long-term health.

At Bayshore Veterinary Hospital, we take a thoughtful, personalized approach to preventive care. By seeing your pet regularly, we can catch issues early, tailor recommendations as they age, and help you make informed decisions every step of the way.

What to Expect During Your Pet’s Wellness Exam

Wellness visits give us the opportunity to really get to know your pet, and to spot potential concerns before they become bigger issues. At each exam, our Holmdel veterinarian will start by reviewing your pet’s history, lifestyle, and any recent changes you’ve noticed in behavior, appetite, or activity level. From there, we’ll perform a full physical exam, looking closely at your pet’s eyes, ears, teeth, heart, lungs, joints, skin, and coat.

Depending on your pet’s needs, we may also recommend:

  • Core and lifestyle vaccines

  • Heartworm and fecal testing

  • Flea, tick, heartworm, and intestinal parasite prevention

  • Preventive lab work to screen for underlying illness

  • Nutritional counseling or weight management support

  • Microchipping for safety and peace of mind

Wellness Care For Every Life Stage

Puppies & Kittens

Early visits are all about building a healthy foundation. We’ll screen for parasites, begin a vaccination schedule, discuss spay/neuter timing, and guide you through nutrition, behavior, socialization, and training. It’s also a great time to answer all your new pet parent questions!

Adult Pets

For healthy adults, we recommend annual (or biannual) wellness exams to stay ahead of potential issues. Vaccines, parasite prevention, weight monitoring, and lab work all help us track your pet’s health trends and catch changes early, before they cause problems.

Senior Pets

Around age seven, pets may slow down. Signs like stiffness, appetite changes, or less play can indicate discomfort. We provide senior wellness testing, dietary guidance, pain management, and compassionate support for quality-of-life decisions.
