Bayshore Veterinary Hospital in the Community
Right now we are so excited about a nationwide initiative being run by an organization called “Wag’n O2 Fur Life.” The goal of this initiative is to have all fire companies and first aid/rescue squads equipped with pet resuscitation equipment. This came to our attention when we heard a news story out of the Carolinas about a fire company that successfully rescued three family pets from a burning structure because they were equipped with pet oxygen masks.
Wag’n O2 Fur Life Initiative
Since we’ve just completed the first year in our new hospital building, we wanted to reach out to our clients and thank them for playing a huge role in our successful transition. After reading this story, what better way to honor our clients, the pets they love, and the communities where they live, than to purchase these kits for four Fire Companies and one First Aid/Rescue Squad, adding them to the ranks of 2,925 first responder departments across North America currently carrying this potentially life-saving equipment!
We sent cards to over 200 regular clients thanking them for their trust and loyalty. In each card, we included info on the Wag’n O2 Fur Life program along with this sentiment: “At this season of giving thanks, we’ve chosen to honor you and the pets you love by providing lifesaving pet oxygen equipment to the First Responders servicing our local communities. Our hope is to generate support for the “Wag’n O2 Fur Life” initiative and ultimately outfit every first responder organization with the proper equipment to work on every pet in respiratory distress.” We want our clients to know how much they mean to us, and how much the Wag’n O2 Fur Life initiative means to us as well!
With limited funding, first responders often lack the resources to purchase this equipment themselves, so they rely on sponsors. We view these 5 units as a beginning. Through the generosity of local businesses and individuals within the community, we’d like 2015 to be the year that all our local first responders carry Pet Oxygen Kits among their emergency equipment!
Rimadyl K-9 Courage Program
“They protected us. Now we can return the favor.”
Bayshore Veterinary Hospital is teaming with Zoetis, The Sage Foundation for Dogs Who Serve, and the national Police Dog Foundation, who created the Rimadyl K-9 Courage Program. We’re so excited about the way that this program raises money to provide veterinary care to retired military and police K-9s.
We are proud to be a part of ensuring that these courageous animals are able to continue to live happy and healthy lives. The foundation will provide more than $150,000 in annual veterinary care to about 500 retired working dogs.
